Utopia Art Sydney 31st May – 21st June 2014
Papunya Tula Artists and Utopia Art Sydney are proud to present the first ever solo exhibition by Kiwirrkura artist Yukultji Napangati.
For many years Yukultji Napangati has been regarded as one of Papunya Tula Artists’ leading painters. Since beginning her career in 1996 Yukultji has continued to skillfully explore techniques and compositions resulting in works being selected for numerous awards, institutional acquisitions and private collections worldwide.
Stunning large scale works by Yukultji now hang in the Art Gallery of NSW, National Gallery of Australia, National Gallery of Victoria and the Hood Museum of Art, Dartmouth College, New Hampshire USA. She has also won the prestigious Alice Prize in 2012, been highly commended in the Art Gallery of NSW Wynne Landscape Prize in 2011 and 2013, and selected as a finalist in the Telstra Indigenous Art Awards in Darwin five times since 2006.
This is a landmark exhibition in Yukultji’s career, who at the relatively young age of forty-four, will certainly continue to be one of Papunya Tula Artists’ most high profile, prolific and influential painters.
