This exhibition, showcasing the very best of recent works from Papunya Tula Artists, opened last week to a packed house at the New York Universityâ??s 80 Washington Square East Galleries. Hetti Perkins, curator of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art at the Art Gallery of New South Wales, gave an emotional and moving speech as she opened the show to the hundreds of people who crammed into the gallery to witness this historical event. By the end of the night the exhibition had almost totally sold out with 38 of the 45 works gone.
Papunya Tula Artists would like to thank the New York University, the staff at 80 Washington Square East Galleries, all those who attended and supported the exhibition, and especially Doreen Reid Nakamarra and Yukultji Napangati who travelled from their home community of Kiwirrkura in Western Australia to be present at the opening.
The exhibition concludes on Saturday 3rd October.
