JOSEPHINE NANGALA and TATALI NAPURRULA

Papunya Tula Artists in conjunction with Birrung Gallery presents the work of Josephine Nangala and Tatali Napurrula.

Josephine Nangala is a senior member of the Kiwirrkura Community in Western Australia. She has been painting for Papunya Tula Artists since 1996 and has exhibited works in Australia and internationally. Her paintings typically depict the journeys of groups of ancestral women to the rockhole site of Nyilla.

Tatali Napurrula is an emerging artist from the Kintore community in the Northern Territory. Tatali started painting for Papunya Tula Artists in 1999 and since then has been a regular exhibitor both in Australia and overseas. Tatali’s paintings depict women’s ceremonies at Desert Bore, north of Kintore.

Both artists will be travelling to Sydney for the opening which will coincide with the official opening ceremony of Birrung Gallery’s new gallery space.

This exhibition will be opened by Tim Costello, CEO of World Vision Australia, on Wednesday the 13th of December at 5.45pm.
