Once again Papunya Tula Artists will participate in the Darwin Aboriginal Art Fair (DAAF). The Chan Building, Bennett Park Darwin will host this year’s event which has been organised for the first time by Top End Arts Marketing. Marg Bowman and Sarita Quinlivan will be on hand to present an exciting selection of work.
The third Darwin Aboriginal Art Fair is taking place from the 13 to 15th of August 2009 in Darwin. The Fair coincides with the Telstra National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art Awards, (NATSIAAâ??S) and the Darwin Festival, a time when the city of Darwin becomes the focal point of the nation for visitors with an interest in Aboriginal arts.
The Fair is like no other in Australia. Under one roof buyers of Indigenous art will find around 30 different art centres, including some from very remote and inaccessible communities across Australia including Arnhem Land, the Kimberley Region, Central Australia and the Torres Strait Islands.
The Art Fair provides a unique opportunity for arts industry buyers and the public to purchase art directly from the Indigenous owned and incorporated art centres, to see the work of emerging as well as established artists, to meet the artists and to find out about the variety of different cultural groups producing art, as well as the range of styles, mediums and products available.
The Fair provides a safe, ethical and honest environment for Collectors and Art Lovers as the art presented is direct from Arts Centres, ensuring authenticity and provenance of the artworks.
