AUSTRALIAN ART REVIEW ADVERTISEMENT – Issue 28, July – August 2011

Our advertisement in the Aboriginal Art edition of Australian Art Review features a number of paintings denoting some forthcoming exhibitions and awards throughout Australasia involving Papunya Tula Artists. These include:

Kawayi Nampitjinpa, Untitled, 2010, acrylic on linen, 122 x 107 cm
Kawayi Nampitjinpa solo exhibition at Cross Cultural Art Exchange, Darwin from 12 to 30 August 2011.
Kawayi is also a finalist of the 28th Telstra National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art Award – Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory, Darwin from 11 August to 30 October 2011 – along with fellow Papunya Tula Artists: Bobby West Tjupurrula, George Tjungurrayi, Johnny Yungut Tjupurrula, Wintjiya Napaltjarri and Yukultji Napangati.

Papunya Tula Artists’ Nyilyari Tjapangati is a finalist of the Western Australian Indigenous Art Awards at the Art Gallery Of Western Australia, Perth from 13 August and to 19 December 2011.

George Tjungurrayi solo exhibition at Utopia Art Sydney, Waterloo from 24 September to 15 October 2011.

Established and emerging Papunya Tula Artists showcased in Papunya 2011 at Gallery Gabrielle Pizzi, Melbourne from 28 September to 5 November 2011.
These contemporary showings compliment Tjukurrtjanu: Origins of Western Desert Art – National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne from 29 September 2011 to 12 February 2012 – an exhibition featuring seminal works from the movement’s 40 year history.
